Lance Pangilinan, RRT, has been awarded the ZSFG Respiratory Care Services (RCS) 2017 PHIL Award for outstanding clinical practice. Lance has been a valued member of Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center’s Respiratory Care Services Department since 2011. He has consistently demonstrated the department’s core values of professionalism, accountability, teamwork, ethical conduct and strong patient advocacy. Lance has been a part of the RCS research team since its inception in 2015. He has participated in numerous projects, resulting in his co-authoring of 5 published abstracts and 2 peer review publications on control of compression volume loss during mechanical ventilation, incorporation of capnography with mask oxygen delivery systems and the efficacy of aerosolized prostacyclin to treat hypoxemia in severe ARDS. In addition, he presented 2 abstracts at last year’s International Respiratory Congress held in San Antonio, Texas last October. All of his RCS peers and his interdisciplinary colleagues congratulate Lance on this nationally recognized honor. Justin Phillips, RRT, also from the ZSFG RCS team, was a 2016 PHIL Award winner. The PHIL Award is the FACES Foundation’s signature program. It is the only nationally recognized hospital based recognition program dedicated to honoring outstanding respiratory therapists who provide exemplary care and treatment for patients with respiratory illnesses. The award honors and recognizes the unsung heroes in the respiratory profession who understand that each breath matters.
