Research Opportunities for Medical Students

UCSF Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care Yearlong Fellowship for UCSF Medical Students

The UCSF Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care Yearlong Fellowship will support the department’s longstanding mission to train and foster the development of the next generation of physician-scientists in anesthesiology. One fellowship will be awarded per year to a UCSF medical student interested in exploring basic, translational, or clinical research in areas that are relevant to anesthesiology and the perioperative sciences, including critical care and immunology, neurosciences and pain, bioinformatics and data science, outcomes, health equity, and implementation sciences. Contact [email protected] with questions and learn more about this opportunity and our fellows on the School of Medicine Inquiry Funding Office website and the Anesthesia News page.

FAER Medical Student Anesthesia Research Fellowship (MSARF) Program at UCSF

Sponsored by the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER), the MSARF program provides funding to support medical students over a summer in focusing on anesthesiology research, training in scientific methods and techniques, and learning how to incorporate research into a medical career. Medical student summer fellows also have the opportunity to make a scientific presentation at the ASA's annual meeting during the following October. The UCSF Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care serves as a host site for two fellows each summer. This program is open to internal and external medical students. Learn more about this opportunity on the FAER website.
