At UCSF Anesthesia and Perioperative Care, our Research Division provides a robust infrastructure so that both young and established investigators can work to advance knowledge and yield scientific breakthroughs that benefit life and health worldwide. We are pleased to announce that the Prakash Lab, established by Associate Professor in Residence Arun Prakash, MD, PhD, is the winner of the inaugural UCSF Excellence in Lab Safety Award. Created to promote safety culture in laboratories, the Excellence in Lab Safety Award is a program of the UCSF Environmental Health and Safety group, that recognizes research groups with exemplary safety cultures and records. Special thanks to Prakash Lab manager Xiaoli Tian, PhD, for her work managing the lab and ensuring that safety protocols were established and followed, even as the lab has expanded its personnel, recently adding Qing Liu (anesthesia graduate student from China) and Daisuke Maruyama (anesthesiologist from Japan).
