With the opening of the Mission Bay Hospitals in 2015, expansion to Children’s Hospital Oakland, and other strategic partnerships, the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care has grown exponentially, adding an average of 10-15 new faculty members per year since 2015. While this has presented us with many opportunities, the sheer volume of new faculty has also created some challenges for the Division of Academic Affairs. With this in mind, Jacqueline Leung, MD, the Vice Chair for Academic Affairs in the Department, proposed the creation of an Associate Chair for Academic Affairs position.
We are pleased to announce that Associate Professor Pedram Aleshi, MD, has been appointed as the new Associate Chair for Academic Affairs. For the last five years, Dr. Aleshi has been a member of the Department’s Promotion Committee, demonstrating his commitment to his peers’ support and advancement. He will serve as the Vice Chair of this committee beginning in September 2019. In this new role, he will continue to support Academic Affairs initiatives and efforts to streamline processes for the hiring and academic success of our faculty.
