Seeking Strategic Thought Leader and Change Agent for Inaugural Department Director of DEI and Culture Position

That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that we’re seeking an outstanding candidate for a newly created full-time career position, the Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Culture in the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care at UCSF. The Director of DEI and Culture will work closely with our Vice Chair for DEI, Dr. Odi Ehie, to support and enhance employee culture in the areas of DEI, well-being, employee development, recruitment and retention. Successful applicants must possess:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Education/Communications/Business or related area and 5+ years of related programmatic experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of DEI and social justice principles, practices, and theories, as well as AA/EEO, Title IX, and civil rights laws/regulations.
  • Experience developing and leading DEI programs, seminars or workshops.
  • Experience leading or participating in significant organizational change and ability to affect positive change with measurable results.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, facilitation and presentation skills. Ability to build trust, influence employees of all levels, display empathy and facilitate courageous conversations.
  • Advanced project management skills to complete projects within budget and time constraints.
