The Student National Medical Association was established in 1964 as a subdivision of the National Medical Association. Since then, the organization has grown into its own independent entity, supporting and encouraging undergraduates and medical students as they pursue careers in medicine. This support includes an annual Medical Education Conference, consisting of “interactive workshops and sessions that will not only prepare premed and medical students in their journey to become socially competent and clinically excellent physicians, but will also provide the opportunity to network with students and physicians from.” We are pleased to announce that UCSF Anesthesia Senior Resident, Andrew Vargas, MD, was able to represent UCSF’s excellence at the SNMA Medical Education Conference this April, interacting with students and colleagues from across the nation to help develop collaborative and creative leaders in medicine.
