The Parnassus Outpatient Surgery Center (POSC) continues to be a hub for outpatient surgery at UCSF, performing over 300 procedures per month with excellent reviews from providers and patients alike. We also recently launched an outpatient robotics program in collaboration with our General Surgery and OB/Gyn colleagues which has greatly improved our patients’ access to minimally-invasive hernia and gynecologic procedures. The health system is in the midst of an ambitious expansion into outpatient services throughout the Bay Area, with a number of new projects coming down the pipeline. Bayfront Medical Building is the next facility slated to open in August 2024. The brand new 180,000 square foot facility will house multi-specialty clinics, an urgent care facility, a pharmacy as well as a large new ASC with room for 14 operating rooms along with space for extended overnight recovery. The Bayfront ASC will serve most of our existing surgical service lines, with enough capacity to accommodate existing outpatient cases from across the health system while also supporting future growth in outpatient surgery. The building was designed from the ground up to provide the best possible experience for our patients and providers and we are very much looking forward to opening day. It’s an exciting time for ambulatory surgery at UCSF!
