Inclusive initiatives

DEI and Culture projects

At the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care, we believe that creating a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is a collective effort. We recognize that every department member has a role to play in shaping our inclusive environment. To support this effort, we invite all staff members, faculty and learners to submit a request to create a DEI project or event that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The Culture and Belonging team, in collaboration with the Vice Chair of DEI, will work closely with proposal submitters to develop and implement their projects. Whether it’s organizing a workshop, hosting a panel discussion, or creating a resource guide, we encourage you to share your ideas and help us build a more inclusive culture.

By engaging in this collaborative process, we aim to:

  • Foster a sense of belonging among all staff members, faculty and learners.
  • Promote awareness and understanding of diverse perspectives.
  • Address systemic barriers and biases.
  • Celebrate our differences and similarities.

If you have an idea for a DEI project or event, please submit your proposal through our online form. Let's work together to create a culture of inclusivity and belonging at UCSF.

Bring Your Kid To Work Day

As part of our commitment to fostering the next generation of healthcare professionals, the department hosts an annual Bring Your Kid to Work Day for our faculty and staff. This unique opportunity allows children and teenagers to gain a deeper understanding of the daily life and education of anesthesiologists and residents, while providing a fun and interactive experience.

Scholarly Project Program: Promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Research

The Scholarly Project Program is a comprehensive initiative designed to support faculty members in conducting research that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in various fields.
