Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland

UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland is dedicated to serving the diverse community of Oakland and the greater Bay Area. In January 2023, the UCSF Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care took over perioperative services at the hospital, upholding the tradition of ensuring safe and timely care for pediatric patients. As a Level 1 pediatric trauma center, the hospital offers a wide range of specialties, including cardiology, oncology, neurology, orthopedics, and neonatology. Pediatric Anesthesiology provides services in operating rooms, radiology suites, sedation suites, pediatric cardiac surgery, and pediatric pain management. We conduct comprehensive preoperative assessments through the prepare clinic and collaborate with other specialists to deliver anesthesia and sedation for critically ill children requiring life-saving interventions in operating rooms and critical care units. Additionally, we are actively involved in the education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows, providing hands-on training, lectures, and mentorship. Engaged in cutting-edge research, we continuously advance pediatric anesthesia by studying new techniques, improving pain management protocols, and enhancing patient safety.
