Biography Dr. Tallarico is a board-certified critical care physician in Brazil (Brazilian Association of Intensive Medicine - AMIB), starting her dedicated research training at UCSF under NIH T32 Ph.D. Research Fellowship. Her professional interests include bedside care enhancement; based on clinical research and humanized care. New treatments for sepsis and COVID-19 are also in the scope of her recent research interests. Her training foundation in clinical nutrition, perioperative care, and neurointensive care provides a broad clinical experience. In Brazil, she was responsible for the critical care fellowship training since 2016 in the Hospital Brasilia, Instituto de Cardiologia e Transplantes do Distrito Federal and Hospital Home. Teaching is one of her passions and part of her career goals. She completed her general surgery residency and critical care fellowship in one of the biggest hospitals in Latin America, Hospital Beneficencia Portuguesa de Sao Paulo. In 2014, she moved back to her hometown (Brasilia) to work as Director of the General and Neurocritical Intensive Care Unit at Hospital Brasilia. During 2020 and 2021, she worked on the front line of the COVID-19 pandemic in the capital of Brazil. She was responsible for implementing PPE training and teaching about patient care for COVID-19 at Hospital Home. Dr. Tallarico is engaged in medical societies and believes in their support to advance knowledge and research. In Brazil, she worked at AMIB as part of the Board Certification Test process, and she has served as second secretary of the Distrito Federal Chapter (years 2020 and 2021). In the Society of Critical Care (SCCM), she participates in two committees: Social Media and Thrive Patient and Family. Her contributions to the Social Media Team of the Neurocritical Care Journal as a Visual Abstract Editor started in 2020. In January 2023, she was inducted as a Fellow of Critical Care Medicine by the American College of Critical Care, an honor for her outstanding contributions to the collaborative field of critical care. Now, as a Postdoc, she expects to contribute to the newest research in the critical care field, strengthen the work of the Anesthesiology Department at UCSF, and improve the care of her patients.
