Biography I am a cardiac anesthesiologist and critical care intensivist with a strong interest in perioperative ultrasound, blood conservation strategies, and simulation-based education. I serve as the Program Director for the Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Fellowship at UCSF, Director of the Anesthesia Skills Lab, and Director of ICU Ultrasound. I also lead our team’s efforts in viscoelastic testing and blood management for cardiac surgery. After completing medical school at Drexel University College of Medicine, I pursued anesthesia residency training at UCSF, followed by a fellowship in adult cardiothoracic anesthesia at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and critical care medicine at UCSF. I now practice as both a cardiac anesthesiologist and ICU attending in the cardiothoracic intensive care units. My academic work centers on ultrasound education and clinical innovation. I co-developed a four-year longitudinal ultrasound curriculum for the UCSF anesthesia residency, and I lead the annual “TEE for the Critical Care Physician” course for our critical care fellows. I am passionate about integrating bedside ultrasound in both the perioperative and critical care settings, developing blood conservation strategies for complex surgical patients, and using simulation to enhance anesthesia training at all levels.
