Event Description

The present climate crisis poses an extreme threat to human health and healthcare delivery systems. Deactivating the central piped system and transitioning to a portable cylinder source for nitrous delivery has been identified as an effective strategy to significantly reduce anesthesia-related emissions without compromising patient care.

Join us to learn about why your hospital should consider deactivating the piped nitrous system, how to assemble a multidisciplinary team, and the multiple approaches that the clinical and facility management teams have taken to achieve a successful transition at UC Health and Providence Health.

Together, we can take steps towards decarbonizing healthcare!
