Pain and Addiction Research Center (PARC)

Hosted by the department, PARC’s mission is to accelerate the translation of research into improved patient care in pain and addiction. In 2024, PARC continued to develop collaborations among its members to increase the number of translational pain and addiction research projects.

We continued funding for our PARC research fellowship, enabling faculty members to pursue groundbreaking research in pain and addiction management and treatment. The 2024 spring research event provided a forum for sharing insights and fostering collaboration among researchers, scientists, and clinicians in translational pain and addiction research.

We expanded the reach of the pain.ucsf.edu website, offering a comprehensive resource hub with educational materials for patients and clinical providers.

PARC’s website facilitates engagement among member faculty and trainees, describing PARC’s working groups, member lists, monthly seminars, and more. We are pleased to report a significant increase in membership, both among faculty and trainees, underscoring the growing recognition and interest in our program.
