Opportunity and Impact grants program

Opportunity and Impact is committed to supporting projects that align with UCSF's principles of community. We invest in the individuals, ideas, and projects that align with Opportunity and Impact’s programmatic work.

Key details about Opportunity and Impact grants:

  • Funding amount: up to $1,500.
    • One grant per role group per year: staff, faculty and learners.
  • Must be an employee of the Department of Anesthesia.
  • Must have a dedicated project team to support and execute the initiative.
  • Project must receive prior approval from your manager to ensure alignment with departmental priorities.


Application process:

  • Submit your proposal through this form.
  • The review process typically takes 2-3 weeks. Selected applicants will be notified of the outcome and next steps.
  • Grants are distributed once a year, selection committee will meet after deadlines of September 15 and March 15.

Selection criteria:

  • Significance – Does the project address an important problem?
  • Investigator(s) – Are the PI and team well suited?
  • Innovation – Does the work challenge current paradigms or use novel approaches?
  • Approach – Are the methods and analyses rigorous and feasible?
  • Environment – Does the scientific setting support success?
     

Additional information:

The project team will collaborate with Opportunity and Impact to facilitate data sharing during department meetings and will provide comprehensive updates on project milestones and completion. This partnership aims to ensure transparency, accountability, and alignment with departmental goals.
