Overview Cataract surgery is a safe and effective way to restore vision for patients with cataract disease, with over 3.7 million procedures performed annually in the US. Although cataract surgery is the most common elective surgery performed in older adults, there is currently no single accepted approach to sedation for this procedure. Through a series of related studies, our overall goal is to better understand the cognitive, functional, and surgical outcomes associated with different approaches to sedation for cataract surgery.
