Joshua Cash

Senior Nurse Anesthetist
What I do:

My name is Joshua Cash, and I wanted to take a moment of your time to introduce myself as one of the new hire Nurse Anesthetist at UCSF. My wife Teresa and I just finished up moving back to San Francisco from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I am very excited about returning to UC and having the opportunity to meet everyone in the perioperative staff. Just to give you all some info on my background, I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2008, I attended Emory University for my undergraduate degree in nursing. Following nursing school, I accepted a position in the Cardio-Thoracic Intensive Care Unit at Emory University Hospital. I worked in this role for approximately three years before making the decision to become a travel nurse in California. I worked very briefly as a travel nurse, and during my first assignment I was offered a permanent position as an RN at UCSF on 10ICC in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.

In 2014, I made the difficult decision to leave UC to earn my degree in Nurse Anesthesia at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Following graduation in August of 2016, I accepted a position with an anesthesia group that I trained with at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in the greater Philadelphia area. I’ve worked at Lourdes since graduating, and I am forever indebted to them for experience I gained while training and working there.

I want you all to know that I am and grateful to have the opportunity to return to UCSF. During my time as an RN, I was exposed to the exceptional care provided to patients at UC, and I am so excited to be a part of the team again. As a side note, I am a huge outdoors enthusiast and love to exercise; so if you like to surf, snowboard, run or cycle then we should chat! I am eager to meet you all and work with you in the near future.
