July 23, 2024 By Hannah Fairbanks We are pleased to announce the appointment of Anshuman Sharma, MD, MBA as the new Director of Pediatric Anesthesia Research in the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care, effective immediately. Sharma has an impressive background in pediatric anesthesia and pediatric cardiac anesthesia research. He is currently involved in many multicenter, NIH-funded studies evaluating the role of pharmacogenetics and pharmacokinetics in pediatric postoperative pain. More recently, his research received funding from the American Heart Association and the National Institutes of Health for developing an innovative approach of using high density optical tomography to delineating brain health and functional connectivity in neonates undergoing cardiac surgeries. In his new role, Sharma will oversee all pediatric anesthesia research initiatives, fostering a collaborative environment aimed at enhancing research in the field of pediatric perioperative care. He will mentor and support faculty and trainees and build collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
