Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs)

In 2025, the CRNA program continued to serve as a collaborative, enterprise-wide partner supporting UCSF Health’s expanding perioperative and anesthesia services. CRNA leadership works closely with physician anesthesiology leaders, in partnership with the Office of Advanced Practice and executive perioperative leadership, to support clinical operations, workforce development, and system-wide expansion.

To support continued growth, the CRNA leadership structure was expanded to include enterprise-wide managerial oversight, supported by three clinical supervisors and two frontline clinical lead CRNAs, increasing leadership presence across campuses and strengthening alignment between frontline teams and departmental priorities.

In close partnership with physician leadership, the CRNA program advanced staffing and care team alignment efforts that support labor efficiency, operational sustainability, and continued growth in perioperative services.

Interdisciplinary education remained a priority. CRNAs partnered with Emergency Department and Critical Care Advanced Practice Providers through simulation-based training to enhance airway management, resuscitation skills, and ultrasound-guided procedures along with anesthesia-led airway training in the ICU, PACU nurse education, and OR staff training to support anesthesia workflows and patient safety.

Throughout the year, the CRNA program emphasized staff engagement, recognition, and wellness, while continuing to invest in education, collaboration, and high-reliability perioperative care in support of patients, learners, staff, and faculty.
