What we do

The Clinician Retention, Engagement, and Well-Being (CREW) Lab explores opportunities to improve clinician and biomedical scientist well-being and retention. Clinician well-being is critical for the sustainability of the healthcare system and allows healthcare institutions to provide high-quality patient care. Protecting the well-being of our biomedical research workforce is critical for facilitating the scientific advancements necessary to improve human health.

We focus primarily on systems-level and local (e.g. departmental, work unit) approaches that engage interprofessional frontline clinicians in the intervention development process. We have developed a novel, step-by-step approach to well-being called Quality of Life Improvement (QOLI), that integrates elements from Quality Improvement, Human-Centered Design, and Implementation Science to design and implement systems-level well-being interventions.

Our multiple PI research group allows us to pair our clinical, quality improvement, implementation science, communication science, qualitative, and quantitative clinician well-being research expertise. We welcome collaboration, particularly from those interested in qualitative or mixed-methods research in the clinician and biomedical research well-being realm. If you are interested in joining the lab or collaborating, please reach out to one of the PIs: Rachel Schwartz or Jina Sinskey.
