Welcome to the Manuel Perioperative Health Equity Lab

We study how communication, healthcare systems, and perioperative clinical practices influence the quality and equity of surgical care. Our work combines health services and outcomes research, implementation science, bioethics, and clinical investigation to identify disparities and develop practical interventions that improve perioperative care.

More About What We Do

Mentorship is an integral part of the Manuel Perioperative Health Equity Lab. We work with medical students, residents, fellows, undergraduate researchers, and junior faculty on projects spanning perioperative health equity, language access, acute pain, neuroanesthesia, and clinical outcomes.
