Our team of anesthesiologists work closely with the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, a branch of the UCSF Department of Surgery, and are committed to providing compassionate patient care, pioneering research, and training future leaders in cardiothoracic medicine via our Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited fellowship program. As an academic tertiary referral center, our Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologists hold prominent leadership positions at UCSF, nationally, and globally. We provide perioperative care for routine cardiac surgeries, minimally invasive and hybrid procedures, heart and lung transplants, ventricular assist device implantation, extracorporeal life support, complex electrophysiology, cardiac catheterization, and intricate thoracic and vascular procedures. We are also recognized for practicing at the leading edge of medicine, utilizing technological advancements like robotic cardiac and thoracic surgery, and our support for workplace diversity, recently highlighted nationally as producing the first all-female heart transplant team.
