Department paid dues and fees

The Department of Anesthesia will cover the cost of the below items for all comp plan faculty and full-time staff physicians. Part time appointees are eligible for only CA Medical License fees and ASA/CSA membership.

Additional dues/licenses/memberships not included in this policy will require written approval from Dr. Gropper or Carroll Schreibman to be paid by the department.

American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) and California Society of Anesthesiologist (CSA) Dues
The ASA/CSA group bill is paid annually in December to cover membership for the upcoming calendar year.

If you are NOT currently on the ASA/CSA group bill, submit your invoice or payment receipt. You will be added to the group bill for the next cycle.

ACLS Certification
Classroom course and online component at the Kanbar Center will be reimbursed with proof of payment. Recharge is not available.

California Medical License
To avoid delays in renewal, directly pay the CA Medical Board and submit your receipt for reimbursement.

Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License
UCSF is an exempt institution, so there is no fee for renewal. Do not submit a payment.

International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS)
Submit invoice or payment receipt.
Note: Anesthesia & Analgesia Journal subscription is free for those with full IARS membership

Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists (SCA)
Submit invoice or payment receipt.
Note: As of March 2021, IARS and SCA joint membership discontinued

Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology (MOCA 2.0)
Annual cost will be reimbursed with proper proof of payment.
One additional certification related to your subspecialty will be covered.

MOCA Simulation Course
Only UCSF Simulation Education Course will be comped.
Reimbursement applies to course instructors only.
Fulfils one of the MOCA Part IV requirements.
