Overview This project investigates regional anesthesia and multimodal analgesic strategies for patients undergoing neurosurgical procedures. We aim to improve perioperative pain control and patient comfort, reduce opioid requirements, and support recovery. Our work explores regional techniques, including scalp blocks, alongside non-opioid and emerging analgesic approaches. We examine their application in awake neurosurgery and procedures performed under general anesthesia, with particular attention to respiratory safety, reliable neurological assessment, and integration into routine clinical care. This project is conducted in close collaboration with the UCSF Department of Neurological Surgery.
