The UCSF Anesthesia Education Team has continued to strengthen and innovate across all levels of medical training. In Undergraduate Medical Education, the Anesthesia 110 Core Clerkship remains one of the highest-rated clerkships in the UCSF Bridges Curriculum, consistently earning top marks from students for its hands-on approach to airway management, perioperative skills, and clinical communication. We have expanded student engagement through a revitalized Anesthesia Interest Group offering quarterly skills labs, a new faculty mentoring infrastructure for students exploring the specialty, and a growing Sub-Internship program that provides progressive clinical responsibility. Anesthesiology faculty also continue to shape core components of the Bridges Curriculum across Foundations, Inquiry, and Career Launch—ensuring our specialty has a meaningful and enduring presence in medical education at UCSF. At the graduate level, our residency program continues to rank among the top anesthesiology programs in the country, with residents rotating across four hospital systems and consistently exceeding ACGME case requirements. Educational innovation has accelerated with the expansion of protected Anesthesia Education Days, the launch of a structured CA1 Teaching Team at Parnassus, and enhanced simulation infrastructure at both Parnassus and the new PRIDE Hall Simulation Center at ZSFG. Resident wellness and feedback also remain priorities, with continued investment in confidential reporting structures and same-day QR-based evaluations to ensure timely, actionable guidance. Our fellowship programs have grown, with highlights including the Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship expanding to four fellows under the leadership of Dr. Denise Chang, the Critical Care fellowship introducing a dedicated Central Intensivist role for one-on-one supervision, and the Cardiothoracic fellowship expanding in step with new surgical volume and the launch of a Total Artificial Heart program. Across all six fellowships, a shared All Fellows Quarterly Lecture Series fosters cross-program community around wellness, leadership, and professional development. For Continuing Medical Education and Faculty Development, we provide robust programming through weekly Grand Rounds, M&M conferences, and a relocated MOCA Simulation Course now housed in the state-of-the-art PRIDE Hall facility. A faculty incentive program launched in August 2025 ties evaluation completion and teaching effectiveness to recognition and coaching, reinforcing accountability and professional growth. Looking ahead, our priorities include expanding analytics for faculty engagement, improving hybrid attendance at educational events, and broadening simulation and CIEx offerings, while maintaining our central mission to lead in anesthesiology education nationally.
