Mount Zion Hospital made significant strides in improving patient care and operational efficiency in 2024. A multidisciplinary working group comprised of members from Orthopedic Surgery, Anesthesia, Nursing, and Physical Therapy has spearheaded the development of a same-day total joints program. Outpatient volume has transitioned from Mount Zion to Bayfront, leading to the closure of two operating rooms, with plans for future reopening. Additionally, the team has revised the enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) pathway for total joint procedures to optimize patient outcomes. In leadership news, Dr. Saam Morshed from the Department of Orthopedic Surgery has been appointed as the new triad surgical lead.
