In 2024, growth was a defining theme as we expanded our footprint and advanced our mission. We welcomed Bayfront to the Mission Bay campus and completed the acquisition of St. Mary’s and St. Francis hospitals in San Francisco, further strengthening our presence in the region. Construction progressed on the state-of-the-art Helen Diller Medical Center at Parnassus Heights, a cornerstone of our commitment to world-class patient care. Meanwhile, our research enterprise continued to thrive, with significant advancements in clinical discovery, data science, machine learning, and AI-driven healthcare solutions. Our education and residency programs remained among the nation’s best, attracting top-tier medical students. The 2024 residency match was one of the most competitive yet, with 1,300 applicants (we interviewed 196!) vying for 26 coveted spots. Also, we welcomed new faculty and staff, ensuring strong guidance for the years ahead. I am proud of all we accomplished in 2024 and am excited to see the ways our department continues to grow and shine in the year to come!
