With the opening of the Mission Bay Hospitals in 2015, expansion to Children’s Hospital Oakland, and other strategic partnerships, the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care has grown exponentially, adding an average of 10-15 new faculty members per year since 2015.

As a testament to Professor Emeritus Adrian Gelb’s tireless global health and patient safety work, he was recently awarded with an honorary membership to the Sao Paulo State Society of Anesthesiologists.
