New UCSF Anesthesia Global Health Endowment

The UCSF Department Anesthesia and Perioperative Care is excited to launch a new Division of Global Health Equity as well as a new Global Health Endowment to support and inspire the teaching and research careers of faculty and trainees interested in global health equity.

The George A. Gregory Global Health Endowment has been established to recognize Dr. Gregory’s outstanding contributions to global health and anesthesia education worldwide.

Dr. Gregory, Professor Emeritus of Anesthesia and Pediatrics, graduated from UCSF medical school (1963) and anesthesia residency (1967). For the past 50 years Dr. Gregory has served as a master clinician educator in the operating rooms and classrooms at UCSF and at numerous international collaborating centers around the world (roles he continues in today).

Dr. Gregory has authored more the 150 papers and nearly 80 textbooks and chapters, including a freely accessible textbook on the practice of pediatric anesthesia in developing countries. For the past 30 years Dr. Gregory has served as a volunteer for Interplast/ReSurge, an NGO committed to increasing surgical care capacity in resource-limited settings. Dr. Gregory has served as Director of Anesthesia for Resurge since 1996, and in 2016 received the organizations Humanitarian Award for his dedicated service.

For his outstanding contributions to anesthesia education around the world it is an honor to announce the creation of the George A. Gregory Global Health Endowment.
