The summit, co-sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) includes ministers from more than 40 states and high-ranking representatives of international organisations including the WHO, World Bank, and the OECD. As part of his role in the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists, UCSF Anesthesia Professor Dr. Adrian Gelb attended the summit to ensure that the essential role of anesthesia in patient safety was included in the agenda. Dr. Gelb is an active member of the Division of Global Health Equity with a focus on policy and patient safety.
