Assistant Professor Catherine Chen is one of 7 finalists from across the UC system chosen to receive an OptumLabs Data Warehouse research credit for one year (worth about $60,000). Dr. Chen will be studying surgeon opioid prescribing and its contribution to the larger opioid epidemic as well as whether anesthesia interventions intra- and post-op (i.e., neuraxial/peripheral nerve blocks, multimodal analgesia, etc.) will reduce the incidence of long-term opioid dependence.
