Associate Professor Jennifer Lucero, MD, MA, Voted to Represent ASA on ACOG Levels of Gynecological Care Task Force

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Jennifer Lucero, associate professor and director of the OB Anesthesiology Fellowship in the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care, has been unanimously voted to represent the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) on the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) multidisciplinary Levels of Gynecological Care Task Force, established in 2019.

According to ACOG, the task force will “work collaboratively to:

  1. Categorize gynecologic procedures according to levels based on complexity, required training and experience and necessary resources
  2. Define levels of surgical care for facilities according to the complexity of both procedures and patients, in order to ensure patients are cared for at facilities resources to provide risk-appropriate care
  3. Facilitate regionalization of gynecologic surgical care, similar to levels of maternal care, to ensure patients are cared for at appropriately resourced facilities, and
  4. Identify barriers to implementation of levels of gynecologic care and identify strategies to overcome these barriers.”

 

Other organizations invited to participate on this important task force include: American College of Surgery, American Society for Reproductive Medicine, Society of OB/GYN Hospitalists, American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Society of Adolescent Medicine, the Society for Academic Specialists in General Obstetrics and Gynecology, AAGL, and Kaiser Permanente.
