Welcome to UCSF Anesthesia

Resident Life - Profiles

Brad Cohn - CA-2

Brad's move to the UCSF Anesthesia residency program wasn't a big one. He was already sold on UCSF since his days as a medical student right here.

Of all the places where he interviewed, why did he stay? "The quality of the people." Brad's experience here in medical school, and now in residency, has been consistent - always supportive. "Faculty like Dr. Bogetz, Dr. Pardo, Dr. Gropper, Dr. Sullivan and Dr. Aldrich - they were big factors in my decision to stay here." Brad says that during some time-off he took to do research, he always had support to count on in a very collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.

But why Anesthesia in the first place? "My interests were pretty varied in medical school, but I knew I liked physiology" Ultimately for Brad, Anesthesia represents a balance between the science and the art of patient care as well as the opportunity for bench to bedside research.
